Green beans baked are a quick and healthy side dish. Roasting the dang things in the oven compels their natural sweetness out of them, and makes them tender but not too crumbly. You’ll have a side dish that everyone will love if you add your favorite seasonings!

Green Beans Experience with My First Baked Green Beans

When I first baked green beans for the first time I was so surprised … when I bake a vegetable it is usually an ordeal but I just thrilled, this was so easy to do and make it so flavorful. Roasting kinda took them to the next level but in a good way and they once they became a thing in my kitchen fast became a staple.

Ingredients

Fresh green beans: 1 lb, trimmed

Olive oil: 2 tbsp

Garlic: 2 cloves, minced (optional)

Salt: ½ tsp

Black pepper: ¼ tsp

Parmesan cheese: Possible to top with 1/4 cup, grated (optional)

Optional Seasonings:

Red pepper flakes: For a spicy kick

Lemon zest: For brightness

Smoked paprika: For a smoky flavor

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Turn your oven on to 400 degrees Fahrenheit that’s about 200 degrees Celsius.

Avoiding a mess is helpful if you use foil or parchment paper.

Step 2: Prep the Green Beans

Last, rinse the green beans and cut off the ends, then dry them with a towel so they will roast well.

Throw them together with some salt, pepper, some minced garlic (if you like) and some olive oil into a bowl until they are all covered.

Step 3: Spread and Roast

Lining a baking tray with foil and placing the green beans in a single layer is important because they will steam, not roast, if they are too close together.

If you want a more intense color and stronger flavor just let them stay longer, but place them in the oven after it is ready and start stirring them in between until they get close to 15 to 20 minutes.

Step 4: Add Parmesan (Optional)

If you wish for green beans with a cheesy delight finish, sprinkle some parmesan cheese in those last five minutes of roasting.

Step 5: Serve

Remove the green beans from oven and pour in a sp serving bowl.

If you want, pop a pinch of lemon zest or some red pepper flakes on it, then you’re ready to serve them or just leave it as is.

Perfect Oven Baked Green Beans Tips

Use Fresh Beans: Green beans roast best fresh, but firm. Don’t use canned or overly soft beans for the recipe.

Pat Dry: Toss beans with oil when crisp roasting, and be sure to make them dry first.

Adjust Cooking Time: Roast for 15 minutes, check the beans, if you want them softer roast longer.

Experiment with Flavors: Variety is provided when you try balsamic glaze, sesame seeds, nuts or something similar.
