My Experience: Sushi in a New Style
Sushi Bake Recipe was the first time I tried it and I was skeptical at first, but that’s why sushi bake is different. A baked version of sushi? It’s unconventional but one bite verified creamy, savory and satisfying twist on traditional sushi. This dish became loved by potlucks and family dinners so much that it didn’t need to be rolled to have all the sushi flavors.
What is Sushi Bake?
Then there’s sushi bake: a casserole style dish that puts sushi in layer. It’s rice topped with seafood, seasoned, baked with a creamy, delicious topping, and scooped up in nori sheets.
Sushi Bake Recipe
Ingredients (Serves 6):
For the Rice Layer:
3 cups cooked sushi rice
3 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
For the Topping:
Shredded 1 lb imitation crab or real crab or cooked salmon
Use Kewpie mayonnaise, Japanese mayo, 1/2 cup.
1 cup, softened cream cheese
8 Ounces water 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon sriracha (Adjust to taste for spice.)
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
For Assembly and Garnish:
Seaweed and sesame seed mix., 1/4 cup (furikake seasoning)
Cut into squares: Nori sheets (seaweed)
1 avocado, sliced (optional)
(Optional) chopped green onions
Instructions:
Prepare the Rice:
Mix the cooked rice with rice vinegar, sugar and salt in a bowl. Stir lingeringly until the rice is well creamed. Rice needs to be spread evenly in an 9×13-inch greased dish.
Make the Topping:
Shred the crab meat, cream cheese, Put them in bowl with mayonnaise along with sriracha, soy sauce and sesame oil. Cream until creamy and evenly combined.
Assemble the Bake:
Layer the rice layer, and then spread the crab mixture over top of the rice layer evenly. Generously sprinkle furikake seasoning over the top.
Bake:
Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Put the dish in the oven, and bake for 15–20 minutes until the dish is hot and slightly golden on top.
Serve:
Cool the sushi for a few minutes and let it bake. Noriyoko) is served wit hydro sheets to scoop and topping option of avacado slices and green onion.
Tips for Perfect Sushi Bake
Use Fresh Ingredients: Quality rice vinegar and fresh seafood makes all the difference.
Don’t Overbake: That can dry out the topping.
Customize: If you are topping this with anything else, get creative and add tobiko (fish roe), some spicy mayo drizzle, or even cucumber for a little extra flavor.
Serve Warm: Best when warmed you can also serve cold if you don’t mind a slightly cooler texture.

Salmon Sushi Bake:
Swap out crab with cooked flaked salmon.
Spicy Tuna Bake:
Diced tuna mixed with spicy mayo and green onions can be used.
Vegetarian Sushi Bake:
Diced tofu, mushrooms or roasted vegetables can be substituted for seafood.
